My Inspirational Mother:

My mother has inspired me in ways that I’m sure she most likely doesn’t even realize.  I have to admit these very things are some of the ones, that as a teen, sometimes embarrassed me.  They were the very beliefs that I questioned during the time that I was figuring out who I was and what my beliefs were.  However, now as a well rounded and grounded adult, they are the very reason for this blog.  My Christianity, political beliefs and my passion for art and photography. They are all due to her encouragement.  Thank you mom!  I feel so deeply in regards to these beliefs that I feel it is my duty to speak about them.  I have great pride in them and I want to share them with the world.  I know there are going to be people who may not agree with me and that’s okay.  However, if I can change just one person’s point of view, then I have succeeded.  If anything I write encourages change in you, by all means, please let me know.  I will greatly appreciate it.

My mothers active role in her church and political beliefs has inspired me.  She has been mistreated, hand cuffed and thrown in fail during her many fights against abortion.  She has been ridiculed for her religious beliefs; yet she stands strong.  It is she who has encouraged the strength within myself to stand up for my own beliefs and want to shout them from the mountain tops.  I grew up watching my mother paint beautiful works of art.  No matter what, that was the one thing that she loved and always made time for.  She somehow, found the time and money to make that a priority in her life.  I have to admit that as a young girl I didn’t always get it.  Yet now as a grown well rounded mother and wife I understand.  As mothers and wives,(as women) it is imperative for us to not loose ourselves, our interest and hobbies.  We as women have got to always take good care of ourselves first.  If we don’t do that first, how can we help others.  If were not happy and healthy, how can we expect those around us to be?  Thank you mom for that lesson!  My mother always very unselfishly put us children first.  Her art was just that one little special something that she did for herself.   This is an important lesson for all women to learn.

Please visit my mother’s blog at http://kathleenfishers.blogspot.com
and at http://picasaweb.google.com/fisherfineart
and experience her rich artwork.  She is a wonderful artist who creates great works.  It took me quite some time to realize that I too had talent.  I never perfected it as I am now trying.  Compared to her art, I couldn’t see my own talent.  With her encouragement and inspiration, I now see it!  Thanks mom!

Uncle Guy Inspired Me!

nullwpid-gratitude-thank-you-quote.jpg

How much do you truly know about your loved ones?  I recently found out how little I knew about my uncle while attending his Celebration of Life.  This fact saddens me deeply.  How could I know someone for so long, yet know so little about them?  Yes, of course I knew about his deep devotion and love for God and I knew some of his missionary work and a little about his work with the Rangers.  However, there was so much more!

I didn’t realize how many lives he had touched and had an astounding influence in their lives.    I didn’t know that he had eight siblings!  Nor did I know that he had been in the Navy Submarine in Engineering, BSEE auto mechanic, nor a driver and gear head of a rail-dragster.  I realized that he had worked at Tektronix, but never knew that he had been a principal Engineer at several firms, lastly at Intel as part of a design team.  Guy served as a Sunday school teacher, worship leader, assistant pastor and youth assistant.  He served as a Royal Ranger Colander/Leader and worship leader for boys with Christ and FCF fellowship training, worship and Bible drama teams for 30 years.  It was wonderful hearing from all the young men whose lives he had impacted.  In addition, he and my aunt had gone on several missionary trips to Central America, Africa, Japan and a prayer team with their church with a Native Reservation in California.  He was a Mazamas climber, very good downhill skier and , an avid white water canoeist, enjoyed family camping, fly fishing, croquet and golf.   He penned a few worship songs.  He also traveled a lot for work in the US and Asia.  He was still working had finished treatment for a tumor and had started recovery when months later, he had complications with pneumonia and passed on peacefully and quietly into heaven for eternity.

Now I will spend time with my Aunt Joy, ask a lot of questions and get to know her better.  I want to know about her interests and hobbies and the like.

Joni: An Unforgettable Story

I first read this book soon after seeing the movie at church and accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior.

Not long after Joni became a Christian and gave her life to God her faith was tested.  One sunny summer afternoon while swimming with her sister she became a quadriplegic.  She had dived into shallow water and felt her neck snap backwards with a loud cracking sound!  Her life was tragically turned upside down in an instant.  She had been quite active as a teenage girl who had just graduated from high school and was looking forward to college.  The physical activities she had loved so much were things she would never do again.  With her life spiraling out of control she had many times when she was angry at God and wondered “Why me?”  After coming to grips with what had happened and realizing that God had not forsaken her.  The love for God and her faith in God slowly grew and was strengthened in time!  Through much hardships and tribulation she became a fine artist and quite an accomplished singer!  Her book was inspiring and she sold (I believe it was 300,000 copies).  She was recently nominated for a Grammy.  Her name is Joni Eareckson Tada.  You can find her books, singing and paintings online, some are on YouTube.

I hope she inspires you as she has me!

About:

Hello!
This is an inspirational blog focused on my passion for social and spiritual growth toward a more positive future! I am firmly grounded in who I am, what I value and what I stand for. My happiest moments are while I’m writing, sketching and painting and photographing the beauty of God’s creations in nature surrounding us.

Life is great! I am a happily married wife of 26 years to an extraordinary man. We have a blossoming 12-year old daughter. I’ve also been blessed with 3 stepchildren, teenage twin grandsons and 2 wonderfully rambunctious younger grandsons.

I’ve found my joy and passions in life and this is my way of sharing them with the world. My passions include inspirational movies, music, books and quotes. I have strong family values and political and religious views and am an aspiring artist and photographer. My goal is to post on at least 1 of these topics weekly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (weekends are my family time). My passion for these issues run deeply and I feel it is my duty to speak about them. I know there are going to be people who may not agree with me and that’s okay. However, if I can change just one person’s point of view, then I have succeeded. If anything I write encourages changein you, please let me know. It will be greatly appreciated!

Won’t the world be a better place as we spread inspiration around it? Please share my posts with your friends and family. I look forward to inspiring you and hearing your feedback!
